July 2: Finally on our Way to Sunny Saskatoon

After a bit of a kerfuffle (is that a word?) the night before due to a packing issue, we started the first leg of our trip.
It was nice to see some of our good neighbours out to send us on our way.
The bike felt a bit tippy and heavier than I remember it from our Alaska trip, but I'm sure it's just because I need to get used to the added weight. Plus, the addition of the rear Givi bag took up more space than planned, which gave me less room on the seat. We will come up with a solution for this in Saskatoon.
The weather was cooler than expected, so we stopped in Drumheller for coffee and soup and added a couple of layers, including a raincoat for good measure.
We saw a couple of small funnel clouds just north west of Hanna, with one actually dropping all the way to the ground before disappearing back up to the clouds, and fortunately, we avoided rain for most of the trip.
We arrived in Saskaoon 1/2 hour before a pot luck dinner was organized at our friends' house where we were staying. It was great to see all of our friends again and enjoy the laughter, stories and good food. We had a great 3 days of visiting friends, seeing all the old haunts and catching up on sleep.

  1. Great to see that you guys have started down the road! The bikes and gear look nice and clean. You will have fun looking back at those pictures and wonder how they could have been so clean. I look forward to following you guys on your journey! Best Wishes.
